CMP-AK Models F6F Hellcat

The Grumman F6F Hellcat went to war in the Pacific in August of 1943. The Hellcat was a plane designed to fly and land on the Navy's small deck carriers and to defeat the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M Zero. It was a plain looking airplane, round with a big engine and a three-bladed prop. However it was a Zero killer regarded by the pilots that flew her as an "Aluminum Tank". It could withstand considerable damage and still bring its pilot home. It did that well, with a record of 5,156 victories.
