Whether or not the next hundred years are a carbon copy of the past century, Venable's quotation is a scary thought in many respects. I would, however, commend to you a review of the past 100 years that is free of strife, turmoil, wars, assassinations, chicanery, and generally rotten conduct that seems to go hand-in-hand with written records of the human condition.
