Sal Taibi keeps on keeping on: One of the photos in this month's column was taken at the Southern California Antique Model Plane Society's April meeting this spring. They were celebrating Sal Taibi's 89th birthday. He's not flying so much anymore, but he already had his room booked for this year's SAM Champs when the picture was taken.rnLou Garami's Stratostreak design is one of the classic old timers. There were two sizes for the original design-one at 39-inch wingspan, and the other at 52 inches. The 52-inch wingspan version with an Elfin 2.49 diesel (see the Ted Firster picture taken at Perris) is a potent Class A OT Pylon ship. Numbers of people have built them, and they usually wind up taking contest trophies home. The ship has a "pencil bomber" style fuselage, climbs very rapidly and glides like a dream.
