This column includes a photo of Sal Taibi's Corben Super Ace taken on an early morning at Taft. Why an early morning? Because Sal preferred to get his three flights in early and go back to the motel. Sal flew the Super Ace in Gas Scale for years at the Taft and the Lost Hills F/F contests. His frequent opponents included Jim Adams with his Earl Stahl Fokker D-VII and Jim Robinson with a glow powered SE-5. "Dawn Patrol" was something to see.
