Revamped Mi-26 heavy lift helicopter in testing

Russian Helicopters is continuing with an upgrade programme for its Mi-26 heavy lift helicopter, which has been designated the Mi-26T, and is undergoing flight tests. The helicopter has a BREO-26 avionics suite and a glass cockpit equipped with five multifunctional LCD screens, which can display a coloured image of external load, a new digital autopilot and a new navigation system. A new light allows visual control of external loads at night, and is capable of both standard and infrared lighting, used in combination with night-vision goggles.
