GippsAero plans GA10 first flight in coming weeks

Australian aircraft manufacturer GippsAero is aiming for first flight of its GA1010-seat utility turboprop in mid-March. First flight was planned for late 2011 but slipped because of GippsAero's involvement in India's CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories and Mahindra Aerospace C-NM5 turboprop programme. GippsAero, owned by Mahindra Group, built the prototype five-seat NM5 and conducted first flight from Latrobe Regional Airport, Victoria, last September. Despite the delay to the GA10, GippsAero marketing manager Mark McNamara is confident of certification from Australian regulator CASA in early 2013.
