Many flexographic printers experience a cracked plate at one time or another. If it is an isolated incident, you probably don't worry too much and may not even attempt to determine the reason it cracked. If plate cracking becomes a chronic issue, however, it is important to determine the cause. The reasons that a plate cracks can be a mystery to many. Sometimes a plate will crack before it even gets to press. Other times it cracks during the press run, or when it comes out of storage for the second or third run. A plate can run well all winter, but as soon as the hot weather rolls around, a few cracks appear.
