DuPont Reveals Printing & Platemaking LCA

At drupa 2008 DuPont Packaging Graphics reviewed two lifecycle assessment (LCA) studies. The first compared the environmental footprint of flexo-graphic printing to gravure printing, while the other examined the environmental footprint of thermal platemaking versus solvent platemaking for flexography. The LCA study results provide data regarding the consumption of non-renewable energy and the emission of greenhouse gasses (GHG's), two key measures in assessing the environmental impact of a product or process. An early preview to these reports was presented at FFTA Forum 2008 in Dallas, TX in the Sustainability Session.
