When your drivers use fleet cards instead of credit cards or cash to pay for fuel, they're actually helping you manage your fleet better according to NAFA's 2011 Fleet Cards Survey. Fleet managers use fleet cards to enforce spending controls and limit purchases by their drivers, receive accurate reporting of fuel usage, and provide odometer reporting compliance. The cards also show real-time MPG reports, consolidate billing, play a role in preventive maintenance and repairs, and limit the types of purchases that can be made. The overwhelming majority of NAFA Members who participated in the 2011 Fleet Cards Survey currently use fleet cards and many heartily recommend the practice to those who don't. While fleet cards are used for managing fuel, tires, and outside maintenance expenses, this survey focused only on the fuel aspect, an area that clearly means much more than just purchasing the fuel itself.
