City Of Calgary Fleet Services FLEXY Winner For Public Safety

When the city of Calgary began an effort to reduce its collisions, buy-in was needed well beyond just the drivers involved. The initiative also required strategic partnerships with the city's legal department, labor relations, area police, and union leadership. The result, however, was worth the challenges; the fleet of 8,200 drivers and 3,300 pieces of equipment has cut back its preventable collisions by 22.5 percent since 2013. The fleet earned the 2014 Excellence in Public Service Fleet Safety Award, which was picked up by NAFA Member Michel Belzile, Manager, Fleet Services, City of Calgary, Alberta, at this year's Institute & Expo.
