After graduating from Virginia Tech's Corps of Cadets, Charlie Gibbens was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, which provided him the training to succeed in the automotive fleet industry. During his Army career, Gibbens served as combat arms officer in the Armor branch — which is the Army's tank corps — and his alternate career duties were in the area of logistics (supply and equipment maintenance activities).
