DISTRACTED DRIVING NEEDS ATTENTION

There is growing concern about distracted driving, and for good reason. Some estimates suggest that distraction is a factor in 25 percent of all collisions. If this figure is reliable, it underscores the need for taking action. To examine what is known about distracted driving and to identify effective program and policy options for dealing with it, the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) and the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) co-sponsored an International Conference on Distracted Driving. The conference was co-funded by 17 government, corporate, and non-profit organizations from Canada and the United States, including NAFA.
