Having spent my 34-year career in various corners of the automotive industry, one thing that I appreciate most in my role as chief economist at Manheim Consulting is the unique vantage point we have to assess industry trends. Manheim's place in the auction industry means daily interaction with all of the key players in the remarketing industry, from manufacturers to banks, commercial fleets to independent used car dealers. We're privy to real-time price information, and we're able to consult for our clients on best practices that are achieving real-world results right now. One trend we're watching that has particular value to fleet managers is the strategic use of reconditioning as part of a comprehensive remarketing strategy.
