Thirty eight people were evacuated following a fire at Freshfields Nursing Home in Plymouth on October 15,2008.A TV caught fire in the home's upstairs communal lounge,filling the building with dense smoke and creating potential danger for both staff and residents.Fortunately,the nursing home had implemented fire safety measures that included the installation of Dorgard fire door hold open devices,to safeguard staff and elderly residents.
