The findings of the Fire Brigades Union report, In the Line of Duty, make sorry reading, highlighting a blight on the UK Fire and Rescue Service.Whilst FIRE applauds the union's hard-hitting expose, we suggest all parties come together to seek to eradicate this tragic escalationrnTwenty-two firefighters killed on duty since 2003;13 killed at fires;eight firefighters lost their lives in 2007 alone;this compared with no recorded fire deaths from February 1996 to October 2002.The Fire Brigades Union has hit the nail right on the head with its devastating report, In the Line of Duty (see opposite and pg 14) and the union should be applauded for addressing this highly sensitive issue and suggesting a way forward.
