The power of evaluation

Evaluation is an essential tool for fire and rescue services. The importance of evaluating the projects we deliver in the community, and assessing their impact in terms of the difference they have made and their cost-effectiveness, is now more pressing than ever. This is reflected in the Fire and Rescue Service National Framework 2008 -11, which refers to 'evaluation' no fewer than eight times, and places emphasis on the evaluation of service delivery outcomes and prevention programmes, as well as the dissemination of best practice.
