Pioneering campaign to reduce fire risk for older people

In 2007, 443 people died in fires across the UK and 177 of these people were over the age of 60. The most vulnerable group were people over the age of 80, who are twice as likely to be killed in a fire.This is why Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is giving out 230,000 cards, which have been produced by Hallmark Cards, to all primary school children in Lancashire to commemorate UK Older People's Day on Thursday October 1.
