Flir HF-Series hand-held thermal imaging cameras are extremely lightweight and therefore ideal for firefighting applications. Thermal imaging cameras do not need any light to create a crisp image, allowing firefighters to see through smoke. With a thermal imaging camera they can remotely assess the effectiveness of ongoing firefighting activities, assist with the direction of extinguishing activity - even in smoke filled areas - and find a way around in a smoky environment in areas already extinguished but still filled with residual smoke. A thermal imaging camera will also give useful information about parts of a fire that are still hot and need to be extinguished in order to prevent spontaneous re-combustion.
