Surveillance to improve driver and public safety

The CCTV systems will help to improve driver and public safety and are being fitted to a range of vehicles in use across the county to support the active monitoring of driving standards while responding to emergency calls and during routine journeys. The systems will also be used to record footage at the scene of any emergencies, comments Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service's CCTV lead officer Station Commander Martin Statham.The high quality images will also be used to support any internal, police or insurance investigations following road traffic collisions involving service vehicles. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service will use the footage to assist in the management of occupational road risk and support investigations of any external or internal complaints about driving standards.
