When I became President of CFOA in September 2011, my stated intention for the year ahead was to help CFOA become: 1.Stronger professionally 2.Influential politically 3.Stable financially. As I hand over to Vij Randeniya, I am delighted to be able to show some real progress on each of these. At the same time, the environment within which we operated continued to change, presenting challenges such as: a potential national strike, acquittal of three fire officers on manslaughter charges, the 2012 Olympic Games, fuel shortages, as well as progress on a new national framework and a new strategic resilience board.
