Over the last 30 years firefighters' personal protective equipment has gone through a significant step change, from cork hats and non-waterproof jackets through to the modern, European standard kit. This improvement has undoubtedly saved numerous injuries and lives. However, is the full personal protective equipment kit too 'clever' for the majority of work that firefighters undertake?
