The future of the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) is in jeopardy. Is that too dramatic a statement? If not the future of the Service, then certainly the reputation. The dichotomy of 'striking the balance' in the operational scenario is an ongoing dilemma. This article considers the question, what level of service does the UK public expect from its emergency services, and is that expectation realistic?
