Fire safety qualifications at the Fire Service College

Fires and false alarms cost the UK in the region of £8.3bn per year*. In 2009 fire insurers were paying out £3.6m a dayt to cover the costs of fire, a figure that is rising and often does not cover the true cost of fire to a business. It is essential, therefore, that fire and rescue services are able to provide appropriately trained and qualified auditors to work with their communities to reduce that risk. The Fire Service College now offers delegates the CFOA backed nationally recognised Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors), awarded by Edexcel. This qualification is suitable for all fire safety auditors and inspectors as well as those from businesses and organisations who are responsible for fire safety arrangements and for ensuring the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 are being met and applied in a consistent way.
