Boost for West Midlands and Staffordshire controls

Work is now underway to determine how the shared fire control facility might work. Part of that process includes examining the way in which we mobilise emergency vehicles to incidents, reviewing current working practices and the trialling of flexible working arrangements. Throughout the process, our priority will be to ensure that communities in both areas continue to receive a first class fire and rescue service. A bid for a sum of £4.1 m was submitted to DCLC to support the ambitious and far-reaching scope of the project and assist in creating a highly efficient fire control solution which covers both areas. We have since learnt that our bid was successful, though we did not receive the full amount of funding.
