European PPE first as South Yorkshire fire kit hits stations

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has worked with suppliers Bristol Uniforms to buy the new kit in a fully managed service agreement, which will see the leading PPE providers launder, repair and inspect the new kit over the next eight years. Firefighters had the final say in the colour of the fire kit bought and were overwhelming in their desire to return to black - a traditional colour worn by firefighters in the UK for more than 100 years. The resulting use of PBI Black tunics and over trousers is a first for the European PPE market.
