Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) firefighters are called regularly to deal with vehicles that have ended up in the water, but this can be as hazardous for the firefighters as for the occupant, explained RBFRS Senior Water Rescue Instructor, Watch Manager Bob Wibberley. "Our job is to get the person out of the vehicle as quickly as possible but in order to do this we also have to protect our firefighters. Working in water is dangerous and demands specialist training and techniques to ensure a successful outcome.
