Operational effectiveness in Hampshire Fire and Rescue

You might be expecting an article of this nature to start with an analysis of operational performance around incidents and what we are doing to improve that. But we would like to start at a different point in the process: culture. This is something we are big on at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, and we believe it is the fundamental building block, not only in enhancing our operational focus, and therefore effectiveness, but in the whole way we go about our business as a fire and rescue service. And so our vision is to be a stronger organisation that makes life safer. We want our staff, in all disciplines across our organisation, to be able to deliver the best possible service to the public of Hampshire -because they feel empowered, encouraged and liberated to do so. Our vision is clear - we want our teams to focus hearts and minds as well as our resources on our purpose of making life safer.
