The Emergency Services Training Centre in Beckton is one of two new training facilities to be built by London Fire Brigade's training partner, Babcock. The 3,200 square metres facility houses urban search and rescue, incident command and hot fire training facilities. London Mayor Boris Johnson has labelled it a "gold standard" facility to deliver a "world class service" to Londoners. Commissioner Ron Dobson said that London Fire Brigade is the best fire service in the world "and now we have first class training facilities to match. "The centres of excellence provided by Babcock radically improve the quality of facilities that are available to us, providing our firefighters and support staff with state-of-the-art, realistic, safe learning environments to hone their skills across the wide range of disciplines that are required by the modern fire service."
