Vital ingredients for real fire reform

Following this year's Local Government Association Fire Conference from Gateshead on March 7-8 (see FIRE April pg 15), FIRE espoused analysing the approaches of polar opposites so that a new apolitical perception has room to grow and real, lasting, life-saving change can be made. This month we focus on getting the next steps right based upon learning from others and the recent past (see pg 9 on the dangers of miscalculation in establishing an independent inspectorate, looking to the previous regime and the example in Scotland).
