In his final days as Britain's top policeman Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe gave an interview to the Evening Standard newspaper. In that interview he was unequivocal over the increased of a major act of terrorism in the coming months. He is right to issue such a warning. With people leaving the former battlefields of Syria and Iraq in large numbers and seeking, via a range of routes, to return to the United Kingdom, the risk that some of them may wish to continue the fight for their cause is clear.
