Four years on from Grenfell tragedy

It is hard to believe four years have passed since the devastating Grenfell Tower fire, and my thoughts remain with all those affected by this tragedy. This terrible incident uncovered a range of systemic failings in building safety. The National Fire Chiefs Council is continuing its work to ensure change for the better; everyone has a right to feel safe in their homes. In the weeks and months following the fire, there were a number of key pieces of work NFCC undertook, such as changes to key parts of National Operational Guidance in relation to fighting fires in tall buildings. This has continued over the last four years with work introduced and implemented by FRS following the Inquiry's initial report. Examples include new Fire Survival Guidance for Fire Controls, training packages on Emergency Evacuation Systems and Fires in Tall Buildings Evacuation Guidance.
