Sitting at the very heart of every fire and rescue service's response operations is its control centre. That first point of contact for everyone in an emergency situation. Over the years many different services have tried out different approaches to ensure a swift response to help keep residents safe, with many different operating models around the country. For West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS), planning out its future IT provision, it realised now was the time to start from the very centre of the operation to continue to offer best service. Jon Lacey, who is Assistant Chief Fire Officer at WSFRS, explained that with a number of key IT systems nearing the end of their operating lives, the service was keen to build a mobilising system fit for the future. He said: "When designing that future roadmap we realised that the control centre sat at the heart and core trajectory of all of our IT systems.
