Gent 24 managed protocol―AN OPEN AND SHUT CASE

A significant benefit of Gent's managed protocol is that it satisfies two key customer requirements - quality and freedom of choice. A protocol is essentially the 'language' used by modern electronic products to communicate with one another. On an analogue addressable fire system, it is the means by which smoke detectors, interfaces and other devices 'talk' to the control panels. Protocols are widely referred to as either 'open' or 'closed', a simple distinction that can be highly misleading.
