In the March 2003 edition of Fire Safety Engineering, the ASFP's lead in the production of the guidance document entitled 'Ensuring Best Practice in passive fire protection for buildings' was featured heavily both in the Editor's Comment and FSE News. In addition, the actual 'Partners in Innovation' project that generated the guidance document was discussed in the ASFP news section. With all of this exposure, plus that generated elsewhere, you might assume that the world and its wife would be beating a path to the ASFP door to get hold of a copy of the document. Well, you would be wrong with regard to the people that really need to read the document namely main contractors, building owners and facilities managers. This incredible apathy was reflected in the attendance at the launch of the document at the Building Research Establishment when only one main contractor could find the time to send somebody along to listen to the presentations. But that indeed was one more person than came from building owners and facilities managers!
