Cost-Effective Early Warning Detection For Small Critical Areas

Very early warning smoke detection is important for the protection of mission-critical equipment, high value assets and also for the protection of life in many applications. Historically, the perceived cost of early warning smoke detectors has regularly precluded their application in medium risk areas of less than 250m~2. The VESDA LaserFOCUS has been developed to address this market. Risk analysis and performance based design are becoming increasingly common in the field of fire detection and asset protection. The growing emphasis on risk management means that businesses are reviewing their operational risk profiles and are identifying a new range of processes that warrant improved protection beyond conventional prescriptive standards and performance. This new range is emerging for many reasons but not least as a result of changes in Information Technology (IT) -changes such as; 1. the increasing devolvement of processing power to spread the risk beyond a single physical location; 2. the increasing energy required to drive latest technology electronics and; 3. the increasing awareness surrounding the susceptibility of electronics to smoke damage.
