Sapphire the new halon replacement - safe for people, property and the environment

Here he explains why. Even before the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed back in the early 1990s, the search was already well under way for a truly sustainable, environmentally acceptable and long-term alternative to Halon 1301. Chemists around the world, particularly in the USA, devoted their energies to the task of coming up with a solution that would satisfy the needs of the fire industry, while allaying the real concerns of environmentalists.
