The Field's Shopping Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark could not have been built but for a fire safety engineering approach. Shao Wu of Arup Fire Europe gives details of the project. Field's shopping and leisure complex is a unique building which does not fit into the prescriptive requirements of the Danish Building Regulations. The use of a fire-engineered solution was the only approach which could be used to enable the building's design to be accepted by the appropriate authorities.
