Remote monitoring extends fire panel

An SMS monitoring system has been installed at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital to transmit signals from an existing fire and intruder alarm system at an old hospital site to the main building.rnDrax (UK)'s Connect SMS system is GSM-based and designed for 24-hours-a-day off site monitoring. It features remote transmitter units hard wired to the monitored equipment's outputs to read signals generated by the equipment. The signals are encoded and sent as a customised data message to the Connect SMS Manager PC located in the main Heartlands Hospital building. Site details and the nature of the event are displayed and stored on the PC. Messages can also be forwarded to appropriate staff via text or email.
