The objective of one-stop certification for fire safety products and services has been hotly anticipated for the last two or three years. In October it came closer to realisation with the formation of Certalarm. The new body has the support of a number of test houses in Europe, though with the notable exceptions so far of big guns such as VdS and LPCB. So is this set to be the dawn of a true, single-market era, or just another approval scheme to add to the plethora of those already in existence in Europe?
