Initiatives such as the development of industry training and the creation of technical tools are two of the outcomes of an internal review carried out by the Association of Specialist Fire Protection. Speaking at the association president's lunch, ASFP president Brian Robinson said the review followed the conclusion last year that the association had to "lift its game". Other objectives would be expanding the association's membership and influence. Turning to wider industry matters, he broadly welcomed the proposal to introduce the Construction Products Regulation as a means of levelling the fire safety playing field by having mandatory CE marking by 2011.
