ROLE MODELS

Computer-based models are in widespread use today as part of fire safety design. However, there is considerable concern about whether or not the use of these modelling tools - including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models - may be leading to unacceptable options being adopted. Concerns centre on the degree to which these models may or may not have the potential to represent the real world reasonably accurately, and the ways in which they may be used and the results interpreted.
