Helmet camera study improves fire response

A STUDY by Cardiff University found that firefighter decision making was 'often intuitive and reflexive', and began a series of new training methods called 'Decision Controls'. The study saw GoPro cameras fitted to firefighters' helmets to show how they dealt with emergency incidents, with the researchers able to see how judgements were made. It largely found that decision making was both intuitive and reflexive, while officers were clearly 'affected by past experiences of similar incidents' in their choices for action.
