Letter to the Editor: Comment on 'RSET/ASET, a flawed concept for fire safety assessment' by V. Babrauskas, J.M. Fleming and B.D.Russell, Fire and Materials, Vol. 34, pp. 341-355 (2010)

摘要

It is very nice to see a paper published on pointing out the possible flawed concept of using Required Safe Egress Time (RSET)/Available Safe Egress Time (ASET) for fire safety assessment [1]. The information should be a key reference to officers handling fire safety with performance-based design (PBD), particularly in crowded deep underground subway stations and large airport terminals in the Far East. Similar concerns were pointed out since the implementation of fire engineering approach in Hong Kong [2,3] in 1998.
