USFA: Responder Health and Safety Focus of Initiatives

The Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act of 1974 (P.L. 93-498) authorized the United States Fire Administration (USFA) to develop, test, and evaluate equipment used by the nation's fire and rescue services and to conduct management studies. The USFA's National Fire Data Center (NFDC) develops and manages these research and applied technology projects and partnerships, which were designed to enhance firefighter health and safety.
