IMF issues myeloma prevention guidelines

The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) reports that newly published data may show a possible genetic link between environmental toxins and bone disease in multiple myeloma (a cancer of cells in the bone marrow that affects production of blood cells and can damage bone). The IMF notes that the disease is increasingly being diagnosed in patients under 45 years of age, including some of the early responders to the 9/11 World Trade Center site.
