USASFA works to amend 1986 IRS code re sprinklers

The USA Sprinkler Fitter Association (USASFA) is lobbying for the passage of H.R. 1194, which would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. According to the USASFA, the current code "provides a disincentive for adding building safety improvement, such as sprinkler systems." The proposed bill, sponsored by Rep. James R. Langevin (RI), would "amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to classify automatic fire sprinkler systems as five-year property for purposes of depreciation."
