There are numerous types of void spaces encompassing many types of construction. All of them can create serious hazards for firefighters if the voids are involved in fire or the fire has extended into them. This is in large part because the voids obscure or conceal the extent and severity of the fire. One of most common types of void spaces in single-family homes is the knee wall.
