Proposed Apparatus Changes by the EPA and the ISO

Some important changes related to fire apparatus are on the horizon from both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Insurance Services Office (ISO). The EPA issued a change to its 2010 emissions standards that gives some relief for diesel fire apparatus, ambulances, and airport crash trucks. The ISO has filed for a revision to the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule that outlines the criteria for evaluating the fire suppression capabilities of communities and fire protection districts used to set the insurance ratings. It has been nearly 15 years since the document has been revised.
