Courage and Valor Award Recipient: FDNY's Demontreux

Firefighter 1st Grade Peter G. Demontreux of the Fire Department of New York, a nine-year veteran, received the Ray Downey Courage and Valor Award at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis in March. Demontreux was cited for demonstrating extraordinary bravery and courage in rescuing two civilians, Henry Howell and Clyde Matheny, at an early-morning fire in a four-story brownstone in Brooklyn NY. Other details of Demontreux's heroic rescue are presented.
