The investigation reported hear was concerned with the development of flat triangular shell finite elements for geometrically nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of large-scale laminated composite plate and shell structures. Each of these elements, based on the first-order lamination theory, has three nodes and each node has six degrees of freedom (dof). The updated Lagrangian formulation and modified incremental Hellin- ger-Reissner variational principle were adopted.
